“The best antidote I know for worry is work. The best cure for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired. One of the great ironies of life is this: He or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served.” Gordon B. Hinckley (via return-to-virtue)

“I am trying to be voice for the very angels of heaven in thanking you for every good thing you have ever done, for every kind word you have ever said, for every sacrifice you have ever made in extending to someone—to anyone—the beauty and blessings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” Jeffrey R. Holland (via return-to-virtue)

“Every prayer is heard, and every sincere prayer is answered. They who pray should be content to await the answer at the time and in the manner comporting with God’s wisdom. He knows what is for our good and bestows His blessings accordingly. The testimony of untold millions that their prayers have been heard is a convincing testimony that God hears and answers prayer.”

Heavenly Father knows you. He knows what you need. Even without asking, He knows. And He’ll bless you. Be faithful. Do your part. If you do your part, there is nothing He can do but bless you.

“Grace is a massively uncomfortable idea. This idea of “I didn’t earn this, I don’t deserve it, but you are giving it to me anyway”. A lot of people get bogged down in little details of the Bible, specifically in the Old Testament and Revelation, to avoid engaging the discomfort that I don’t like myself very much but God says He loves me.”

Never take your proximity to the temple for granted.

becauseihavebeengivenmuch:

How many of you live in a town that has a temple? In a state that has a temple?

How many of you have been to the temple within the last half a year? The last month? The last week?

It hurts that I’m so far from the temple. It really hurts. As I believe I mentioned recently, I’ve had my temple recommend for over a year now and I’ve been to the temple once. Once. I don’t have a car and the branch I just left never ever had temple trips, especially for those without their endowments (which was about half of the branch). I’ve gone through a lot in the last year and a common bit of advice in situations like mine is to go to the temple. But it was never an option. Going to the temple is all I’ve wanted for months and no one with the ability to make that happen would help me. I would have done anything to spend six hours in the car just to sit on the temple grounds, much less to have the chance to go inside and do anything useful.

And then I think about the stories we hear at General Conference about the families who work and save for years just to get to go to the temple once in their whole lives. And then I feel selfish. I feel like I’m the privileged one taking things for granted.

The temple is one of the greatest blessings we will receive in this life. I beseech you, do everything in your power to remain worthy, and don’t pass up any opportunity to go to the temple. Don’t you dare take it for granted.
