I just want someone to explain to me why we have to deal with abuse and cruelty to make progress in this life. And - outside of the agency thing - why God doesn’t interfere with the works of Satan full-force.

callisto17:

Because if life were a bunch of roses, what would be the point? Our Heavenly Father knows that we can overcome adversity. He gave us a precious and powerful gift-agency. Everyone has it. That doesn’t always mean that people will choose the right. His plan is flawless. People are not. It’s unfortunate that people suffer abuses, and it was wrong of that person to do so to you, but that doesn’t mean it was God’s fault.

“I am like a huge, rough stone rolling down from a high mountain; and the only polishing I get is when some corner gets rubbed off by coming in contact with something else, striking with accelerated force against religious bigotry, priest-craft, lawyer-craft, doctor-craft, lying editors, suborned judges and jurors, and the authority of perjured executives, backed by mobs, blasphemers, licentious and corrupt men and women—all hell knocking off a corner here and a corner there. Thus I will become a smooth and polished shaft in the quiver of the Almighty.” Joseph Smith (via onceshedecidedtofly)

Do you really understand Satan’s plan?

surgereutlibertatem:

If God intervened to stop even the worst of sins to happen, would the Nephites ever have fallen? Or Soddam and Gomorrah?

God MUST let us choose our actions. Satan would have us be forced to do what is right. Why don’t you SEE?! Satan’s plan was to MAKE everyone be right! If God intervened every time something bad happened, would it really be any different?

“There are many kinds of challenges. Some give us necessary experiences. Adverse results in this mortal life are not evidence of lack of faith or of an imperfection in our Father in Heaven’s overall plan. The refiner’s fire is real, and qualities of character and righteousness that are forged in the furnace of affliction perfect and purify us and prepare us to meet God.” Quentin L Cook
